Luxury Home 4: ‘Luxury Sloping Block Home’

PROJECT DETAILS:

This striking timber framed home is set on a steep slope adjacent to a creek reserve in rural Victoria.

The home was conceptualised as two stacked rectilinear volumes with a dramatic light‐filled double height entry foyer separating the two wings of the home at their intersection. The architectural team and the site team formed a close relationship with the clients right from the outset, and the build team had significant input throughout the design phase with a focus on the external appearance as well as the high functionality of the home. The homeowners were keen to explore material and fixture selections and the collaborative effort resulted in a spectacular achievement in contemporary home design.

The interior offers zoned living with private retreats and entertainment spaces woven into the space. Sun drenched living spaces on the lower level extend down the slope to encompass the garden, and bedrooms on the upper level afford gorgeous views of green, lush bushland. The design achieves privacy for residents and guests with a master suite on the first floor and a guest bedroom cleverly set apart beside the main entry. The home is highly sustainable with double glazed windows throughout, a full ceiling, wall and floor insulation and careful attention to air flow. Privacy screens in key areas add insulation, and zoned heating and cooling enhance energy efficiency.

A flow effect from the pool and deck areas into the house results from the alignment of finishes on the deck to the ground level spotted gum flooring. High 2,340 mm doors throughout, high end joinery and a feature staircase with a dramatic glass balustrade add to the feeling of luxury.
